Join UniverCities, KU Leuven’s 600th Anniversary Conference | Leuven, 30 June – 1 July

On the occasion of its 600th anniversary, Belgian university KU Leuven is organising the Conference ‘The Strength of University Cities: Challenges and Opportunities for Renewed City-University Partnerships in Europe’, (UNIVERCITIES 2025). The Conference will take place on Monday 30 June-Tuesday 1 July 2025, and is organized by the KU Leuven Urban Studies Institute (LUSI).

The aim is to bring together city officials as well as academic researchers working on/in university cities from all over Europe to present and exchange research findings, real-world experiences and best practices concerning city-university partnerships to tackle ongoing and future university city challenges.

The conference will be organized around four thematic panels that draw a comprehensive and interdisciplinary picture of university cities’ contemporary and often interconnected challenges. The program also includes a set of plenary sessions (panel discussion, site visits in Leuven, conference dinner) that will allow participants to also network with participants of the other panels.

Registrations are open until 15 June, with early bird fee applying until 18 April.

We are happy to share that UNICA will be attending this meeting, representing our community of 54 universities from 41 European capital cities.
