Setting up a successful summer school is much more than developing a curriculum: it requires gaining support of the academic leadership, staff involvement (which may not be evident during the holiday period), good logistics, and effective marketing & recruitment tools. At the same time, it can be a powerful tool for university's internationalisation and can significantly increase the institution's visibility.
The 1st UNICA Summer Schools Organisers meeting brought together the organisers of summer schools to discuss the different models of summer schools run by the UNICA member universities and the multitude of tasks involved in the setting up of a summer school. As a conclusion of the meeting, the participants prepared a road map for joint activities related to summer schools organisation.
