European Summer School at ULB: European Union Law and Policy on Immigration and Asylum

On behalf of the Odysseus Academic Network, we are pleased to inform you about the 12th Summer School on “European Union Law and Policy on Immigration and Asylum”, that will take place again at Brussels University (ULB) from 2nd to 13th July 2012.

The classes that will give a global vision of immigration and asylum law in Europe are conducted by academics from universities cooperating in the Network throughout the European Union who rank among the best specialists in the field, and by high ranking officials from international organisations, particularly the European Commission. The Summer School provides the opportunity to live in a unique European environment and to be updated about the most recent developments in the field, as well as to visit the European Parliament. It allows participants, in addition to speaking directly to the speakers, to engage with more than hundred persons directly interested in the field and to enlarge their European network of contacts. Over the last 11 years, the Summer School has gathered almost 1500 people from diverse backgrounds (national and international civil servants, NGOs’ and foundations’ representatives, lawyers, professors, judges, researchers, PhD candidates, social workers, students, etc.).

In order to enable participants working full-time to attend the classes, these will mainly be held each day between 14.00 and 18.30. The participants can choose between following the classes in French or in English. Given the limited number of places, interested candidates are strongly advised to submit their applications as soon as possible by using the registration form available on the website of the Network. Additional information is available here or on our website http://www.ulb.ac.be/assoc/odysseus/Summer2012UK.html.
