UNICA DAYS 2025 – Official Conference Report now available!

The Conference Report from the UNICA Days in Brussels 2025, capturing the key ideas and discussions from the second edition of UNICA’s flagship event, is now available!
The report is structured into six chapters, each reflecting a specific session from the UNICA Days 2025, which took place in the end of February under the theme “The role of university networks in the context of the European Universities alliances”.
As we aim for this report to serve as inspiration for continued collaboration among networks, university alliances, stakeholders, and policymakers, in the final Conclusions chapter, we outline a concrete course of action to build on the insights and outcomes of the event.
What is the main conclusion?
The UNICA Days 2025 reaffirmed that collaboration is the cornerstone of advancing the European vision for Higher Education and Research. Beyond being just an event, the UNICA Days served as a strategic platform for dialogue among diverse actors, highlighting the need for deeper engagement between traditional networks, university alliances, policymakers, and local communities.
The event underscored the importance of:
- Strengthening cooperation between traditional networks of universities and European Universities Alliances,
- Advocating for sustainable, inclusive models in Education and Research,
- Supporting innovation through human-centered digitalisation,
- Reinforcing the university-city relationship as a driver of social impact.
More than an event, the UNICA Days provided a platform for reflection, exchange and strategic dialogue among different actors in the European Higher Education and Research landscape. By bringing together different voices from around the sector, the event underscored the undisputable reasoning that the strategy to fulfill the European vision for Higher Education and Research – including in more recent initiatives like the Union of Skills, presented a posteriori of the UNICA Days – lies in collaboration.

About the UNICA Days
The UNICA Days, launched in 2024, brings together, in Brussels, the entire UNICA community, along with key stakeholders, governing decision bodies, experts, and peer organizations from across the sector, offering a dynamic platform for deep engagement, collaboration, and forward-thinking discussions.
The second edition of this event took place at the University Foundation, on February 26-28. Around 100 participants engaged in insightful dialogues on the evolving role of network and alliances shaping Higher Education & Research.
